Local injection of esophageal tumors with (TNF) .. a leap in the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors in the future!

Two weeks ago, I was in the United States of America, specifically in Orlando, Florida, where I was invited to participate in the 2010 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium, under the supervision of the American Gastrointerology Association and in coordination with the American Society of Clinical Oncology), and more than three thousand doctors and specialists from all over the world attended. I met there with many international experiences, and many research and studies were presented in the same field. Among these studies was an American research that was coordinated by many universities. The feasibility of this study was to know the usefulness of TNF in the treatment of advanced esophageal tumors (that is, those that are difficult to eradicate and are subject to chemotherapy at the same time) when this substance is injected directly into the cancerous tumor in the esophageal wall weekly for several weeks, by means of an endoscope Oral acoustics (which is a qualitative leap in diagnosis and treatment, if possible, as it requires high technology and skill Over five years, the disease was followed up periodically. The researchers noted that the patient’s survival rate is 47.7 months, compared to what was known about such cases in the past, where the survival rate was from 9.7 to 34 months, so the conclusion of this The medical team consisting of a number of American university professors said that the local injection of this substance will make a change in the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors in the future, and since today we are talking about advanced cancerous cases of the esophagus in which the chances of recovery are slim, I think it should be noted some factors and signs that help doctors To identify the disease and try to eradicate it in the initial stages of the disease, as there are several types of malignant esophageal tumors, but its symptoms are often close and are more common in men compared to women, and an increase in cases of this type of tumors has been observed globally in the last three decades.

When the esophageal wall is exposed to high acid gastric fluid for long periods (several years), such as GERD patients without treatment, the patient is vulnerable to such tumors.

In some studies conducted in China, it was found that there is a genetic relationship between the genetic genes of the disease, which may be one of the contributing factors to the emergence of the disease, and there are several other factors that increase the risk of esophageal cancer, including being overweight, smoking and drinking alcohol.

Other factors also include eating canned foods containing high levels of nitrogen and preservatives on a continuous basis, as well as human exposure to radiotherapy for other pathological reasons that may increase the risk of infection. It was also found that there is a relationship between infection with some viral diseases (HPV) and esophageal cancer.

Symptoms often do not appear until after the tumor reaches its late stages, and the most common symptoms are difficulty swallowing (for solid foods in the beginning and then increasing the difficulty to include even liquid later) accompanied by loss of appetite and weight loss, and with the increase in the size of the tumor, the patient is prone to frequent reflux, which increases susceptible to injury

Pneumonia caused by food reflux into the airway. Therefore, it is preferable to consult a specialist doctor to do the necessary examinations and tests as soon as possible to know the causes and possible treatment methods. Some rays, endoscopy and laboratory analyzes may be required to reach the correct diagnosis and accurately to make the appropriate treatment plan.

The choice of treatment for the patient is based in part on the amount of hardship the patient can tolerate. In most cases, treatment is a combination of surgical, radiological and chemotherapy.

If the tumor is not resectable, then a procedure must be taken to overcome the problems of esophageal obstruction caused by the tumor. Sometimes the tumor shrinks for a while due to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and the esophagus can be expanded using a balloon through the endoscope from the mouth, and then a special stent is inserted to keep the esophagus open.
