6 Steps to weight control

In a previous article, we presented 3 of the six steps contained in the book: “The Way to Eat: A Six- Step Path To Lifelong Weight Control: How to Eat: Six Steps to Lifelong Weight Control,” which was written by Dr. David Katz in collaboration with Mora Harrigan Gonzalez. Mura Harrigan Gonzalez. Dr. Katz is chair of the Center for Prevention Research at the renowned Yale University School of Medicine, and this lends credence to his book and the advice it offers. Today we present the remaining three steps.

Step Four: Get rid of the wrong, well-established methods.

Food is one of the axes of people’s meeting, based on inherited methods that have not changed, while life and foods have changed, and these methods have remained passed down through generations. Therefore, try your best to make small changes in meal and food preparation methods (such as drinking tea without sugar, reducing fat and fried foods, and eliminating sweets after eating) and the whole family will benefit from the change, especially children with whom their eating habits grow.

Step Five: Get rid of linking food to the psychological state.

Do not associate a full stomach with a feeling of contentment, and thus you will fall into the pitfall of feeling sad and frustrated when you are deprived of a full stomach! Or feeling frustrated because of the failure to control oneself after eating too much. There is no easy magic formula for doing this. The best strategy is to use the knowledge you have now about food and the dangers of increasing it to reach a state of conviction that the one who knows is not the same as the one who does not know. You now know the extent of health problems that this feeling of satisfaction can lead to, and with time you will be able to turn the scales and feel good by controlling your desires.

Step Six: Get to know the current food environment.

This is because they pose a set of challenges to health and fitness. All buildings contain elevators that prevent people from using the stairs! Means of transportation and remote controls are deprived of movement, and washing machines, food mixers and other electrical tools are deprived of movement of muscles and exertion. Almost all homes have entertainment methods (such as video games, information networks, television) that deprive children, in particular, of burning the excess energy and benefits of being outdoors. Also, restaurants are available, so that you don’t have to make the effort to cook. The best strategy is to avoid or minimize the use of these facilities and to choose the most difficult paths to health.
