A Canadian researcher warned that many young men and women believe that osteoporosis will not affect them because it is a \u201cdisease of the elderly\u201d, and thus they deprive themselves of the opportunity to obtain treatment at an early stage.<\/p>\n
The study, which was prepared by researcher Shanti Johnson from the University of Regina in Canada, and included 300 men and women of all ages, showed a difference in their view of the disease and their differing opinions on determining the age groups that affect it more than others. While middle-aged women expressed their fear of contracting the disease, young people of both sexes said they were less likely to contract it.<\/p>\n
Johnson said that osteoporosis weakens the bones and increases the risk of fractures, noting that 20% of those who develop hip fractures as a result of the disease die as a result, while 50% of them develop permanent disabilities.<\/p>\n
Johnson pointed out in the study that this disease affects elderly women twice more than men, but males are not immune from it.<\/p>\n
He stressed that bone protection begins at a young age and continues through adulthood by adhering to a balanced diet, eating foods rich in calcium and vitamin D, and participating in physical endurance exercises such as lifting weights and exercising in general.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
